Group Leader/After Care: Seeking a flexible person to assist with classes, recess, and be an After Care School-age Group Leader for the 2024-25 school year.

Seeking a positive, open-hearted, creative, fun-loving, outdoorsy teacher who genuinely loves children. Must have good classroom management skills, be well organized and have a flair for teaching a wide range of ages through play, games, and the arts.
  • Must have completed Maryland Day Care I, 45-hour Course
  • and also 45-hour Course for School-age Children or curriculum comparable college Education courses;
  • Plus 400 hours of documented work with school age children in a school, licensed day care or summer camp.

  • 30 hrs. weekly;
  • OPTIONS AVAILABLE:
    • additional hours subbing some mornings or
    • if qualified to teach middle school math: 40 hours (1 hour math teaching and 1 hour prep daily with those 10 hours paid at a higher pay rate)

FULL TIME TEACHERS


Three positions Open: Kindergarten Teacher & 6th grade Teacher

Teachers are the very backbone of everything NHA accomplishes. They are highly effective and dedicated educators committed to the mission of New Hope Academy, focused on building relationships with students, and are accountable for their student’s academic growth and the school’s success.

Minimum of a BA. required with experience teaching in that age-range or specialty field

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF TEACHERS
  • Set and reinforce clear expectations and routines that are aligned with the school’s overall vision and future program goals.
  • Thoughtfully plan daily lessons and implement specific strategies to meet the needs of all students, providing extra support, enrichment, or variation of work when necessary, including addressing the news of gifted and 504 Plan students.
  • An ideal candidate is a subject matter expert and is motivated to develop units of study that lean into personal areas of passion. They are visionary and excel at collaborating and engaging with peers and administrators to improve instructional practice and achieve student learning goals. Using the curriculum and texts selected by the school, teachers are encouraged to explore relevant units more in-depth, designing and implementing assessments that measure progress toward academic standards and diagnose areas of student misunderstanding; use assessment data to refine curriculum, and drive instruction and plan activities.
  • An ideal candidate thrives in cooperative work environments and enjoys being a part of a creative team. They are accountable for their actions and model characteristics that enlighten students about the beauty of how people express their faith, rather than focus on a particular religion or point of view. Using established course materials they implement curriculum by leaning into personal areas of passion while building and modeling real-life relationships and demonstrating how to execute goals.

  • NHA teaches a comprehensive phonics-based curriculum in PreK3-2nd grade, and a Saxon Math mastery program in K-high school.
  • Writes lesson plans, corrects and posts student grades, communicates with parents and administration.
  • Students attend 6-9 specialty classes outside the classroom each week, which provides the classroom teacher with ample planning time.


PART TIME TEACHING POSITIONS


MATH: Middle School Saxon Math (Course 2, 8/7)
  • Must have minimum of a BA degree
  • 10 hours per week: 1 hour teaching (9:20-10:20 daily) & 1 hour prep daily
  • Paid at a higher rate than subbing
  • Great side job for a retired teacher

SUBSTITUTES
  • College degree not required
  • Experienced teaching or working with children preferred
  • Flexibility with hours and ages of children
  • $19 per hour
